Search process & standards

A disciplined engagement, structured around your circumstances.

Every retained search follows a defined path — from written specifications through reference investigation, offer negotiation and on-boarding of the selected leader.

What the engagement includes

Deliverables in a retained search

  • 01

Consultation with the search committee to develop written specifications and background documents, including input from board, management, physician and other key constituent groups

  • 02

Onsite visits and return visits as necessary, so the process fosters engagement and prepares the organization for an easy on-boarding of the selected leader

  • 03

A short list of candidates presented with Videoview®

  • 04

Consultation on the slate invited for first-round interviews, and ongoing counsel as assessment, background and reference information is integrated

  • 05

    Verification of academic degrees

  • 06

Comprehensive reference investigations for all final candidates

  • 07

Background checks including credit, civil and criminal, driver's license, federal courts, the HHS Office of Inspector General's List of Excluded Individuals, the National Criminal Database and OFAC

  • 08

Coordination of schedules and the process for onsite candidate interviews

  • 09

Salary information on candidates, preparation of the search committee and finalist for compensation discussions, and assistance in negotiations

Standards we hold

Three to four active searches

Our professionals carry only three to four searches in various stages at any one time. Focus, not volume, is how we protect the quality of your engagement.

Assessment tools

We first suggest the instrument your organization already uses with other key leadership. Otherwise we recommend ProfilesXT® job-match assessment, which measures how well an individual fits a specific role and provides practical coaching recommendations.

Independent verification

Background investigations are conducted by an established third-party firm that has served the Nutter Group for more than twenty years, keeping verification independent of the recruiter.

Interim leadership

When a seat cannot stay empty.

Unanticipated departures happen. Our interim placement service moves quickly to put experienced leadership in place while the permanent search proceeds without shortcuts.

  • Candidates identified within ten days
  • Flat fee, applied to the professional fee if engaged for the full search
  • No hidden charges
  • Reference inquiries and customary pre-employment screening included
